International uranium enrichment company Urenco is launching an environmental arts competition, open to all amateur artists throughout Cheshire.
Urenco based at Capenhurst actively encourages environmental protection on and off site and is a platinum member of the Cheshire Wildlife Trust and a partner with Chester Zoo on their Origins project.

Each year the company produces a calendar which is distributed to the local population around the site. It is proposed that this year 12 paintings will be chosen to adorn the pages of the calendar.

Each of the winning entries chosen by a judging panel made up from professional artists and Capenhurst site employees will be awarded a prize and the overall winner of the competition whose painting will be used on the cover will receive a best in competition award.

The Art competition starts at the end of May and interested artists need to register for full details as soon as possible. The competition will culminate with 40 paintings being shown at the Lowry in Salford Manchester over a 4 day period, starting with a private viewing for all entrants on Thursday 24 November 2008.
